Where Does True Beauty Reside?

This month I had the privilege of finishing up a song that had been stealthily recorded and worked on by one of my clients of several years. He had written a special song for his wife to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary, and it was to be a total surprise. It seems that feat was pulled off and the gift was well received. So they can have this be a special time and song for the two of them I’ll not put his name in here, but this husband was expressing his praise and appreciation for his wife’s inner beauty that he has observed in ever-greater clarity with the passing years. Not to downplay her outer beauty, he’s finding overwhelming admiration for the qualities of her entire person that can far outshine and endure.

It brings to mind when Jesus was asked what is the greatest commandment and he replied “To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind” – in other words with your whole being. How fitting this song celebrating 5 years of marriage reflects what God had in mind when He created marriage as the expression of His desired relationship with each of us.

Vivacè Select Choir Records Song

This month I had the privilege of making a somewhat unusual recording of a small vocal ensemble. The choral group is lead by Monica Koffi and affiliated with MKS Studio. As part of their annual performance they work up a particular song that will become a music video, and this year it was recorded here at Tesco Productions. The nine person group song included two solo sections and was sung totally acapella. Several takes were made through the piece and the last one pulled everything together quite nicely, with everyone saying that was the keeper. This song will be made into a music video and has since been filmed by a videographer who will set the edited video to the recording. Job well done and thanks for letting me be a part your music!

Tesco Productions’ Upgrades Getting Much Closer

Back in January I mentioned the problem of trying to get a number of updates and upgrades done in the studio – while also trying to provide client services. Well, I’ve been able to bring most of those projects to a conclusion. I have spent considerable hours researching and pre-planning various parts of these changes, and can now say I’m getting quite close to being able to start in. The updates are going to involve incorporating a new main studio computer, a new DAW (more on that to come), a new rackmount console with digital snakes, updating the session cameras/monitors, and other accommodations to enhance the recording/production experience and product. Any update usually requires removal before install, so there’ll be dozens of unneeded wires pulled out which had connection to the old mixing console and other retired gear. The wiring changes also involve reworking patchbays (which has been a big part of my pre-planning) as I think through the new signal flows. On the more mundane side I also plan to put a new floor in the control room. The current one has seen 35+ years of traffic and is getting tired. It would seem I have a lot to do, so I should probably post this and get to work. More in the weeks to come.
